DiscoveryLAB presents: JOAO MARASCHIN in collaboration with TONI&GUY
For Spring Summer 22, Joao Maraschin presents their first short film, “Imagined Communities”, filmed by Laura Aguilera and directed by Fiorella Pomarino.

“Imagined Communities” cherishes the celebration of time. The collection borrows its name from a book and projects the idea of people coming together. It explores the concept of creating a community founded in inclusivity and respect. A space for self-reflection and unity.

The collection draws inspiration from the photography of Claudia Andujar and her series named “The Yanomami Struggle”, as well as Brazil's afro-Atlantic history and passing of time with references to sunrise, day, sunset and night. These elements combined became the starting point for continued collaborations with four communities of artisans in Brazil. Maraschin’s enduring commitment to honouring Brazilian craftsmanship and personal narratives comes into play with the collection being built around handmade embroidery and handmade knitwear.
