TOLU COKER presents SORO SOKE: DIASPORA '68

Moved by the 2020 'End Sars' protests and Lekki Toll Gate Massacres, this body of work aims to reestablish dialogue between this generation and those which have preceded us. 'Soro Soke' revisits the revolutionary soul of British Nigerians, whose experiences and fusion of cultures shaped their communities in the late 60s and 70s. Many of these stories remain undocumented from popular history, existing solely within the sphere of oral histories which are passed down through communities, from one generation to the next.
The importance of these stories is not only the narrative, but the cultural preservation
and empowerment of communities, from within the communities themselves.
