Sabry Marouf is a creative partnership working in luxury hand bags. Based out of studio in east London studio and with their network of artisans in the UK, Italy and Egypt, Ahmed Sabry and Daki Marouf create modern day wearable artefacts that pay tribute to their cultural heritage. Ancient Egypt combines with modern expression for a new kind of storytelling.
A question Sabry Marouf ask themselves is: “Where will our pieces be in 100 years’ time?” The notion of timeless, cherished objects distinguishes their philosophy. Merging the latest processes with artisanal hand technique, Sabry Marouf pieces are a continuous research and development. A vision that the designers continue to pursue is to break out of the established conventions of bag-making through sustainable development - Connecting the designers' journey as creatives, with their narratives as humans trying to create a positive impact on the earth.
Sabry Marouf was the recipient of the prestigious Fashion Trust Arabia prize in 2019, winning the accessories category, which includes the a mentorship programme with online retailer MatchesFashion who will also be launching the designer's new collection in June 2020. The brand has most recently been chosen to show some of its key pieces at Vogue Talent's 10th anniversary alongside among 70 other international designers. The designers are part of the 2018 cohort from the Centre for Fashion Enterprise ‘Fash-Tech Pioneer’ accelerator programme, and are currently part of The Trampery's Sustainable Fashion Accelerator programme. The brand continues to show seasonally with the British Fashion Council’s LONDON Show ROOMS through London and Paris Fashion Weeks. Supporters include BFC ambassador for emerging talent Sara Mower, designer Diane Von Furstenburg, supermodel and philanthropist Natalia Vodianova, and American Vogue’s editor-at-large Hamish Bowles.
