The female founded fashion house OROY exudes Tajik-Persian style and heritage with their ready-to-wear and demi-couture lines. Produced by a team of artisans in London, OROY is a derivative of their Tajik born founder, Oroy Shakhidi who purposefully creates designs to reveal structural points of interest to each garment.
OROY are recognized for their use of contemporary art, these is translated through hand-stitching, quilting and painted techniques throughout each garment. By resourcing skilled craftsmen from her own Tajik-Persian roots, Oroy has been able to bring her designs to fruition.
Corset boning, inspired by western techniques and crinoline feature as a sustainable fabric in a unique manner of reconstruction. Intentionally this exposes the inner beauty of OROY’s tailoring, the curved seem-lines unveil modern dominant signature stripes. A Central Saint Martins Womenswear graduate, Oroy hails from Tajikistan, at 15 years old she moved to the Netherlands where she studied International Business and Management studies at Rotterdam Business School. Oroy’s interest for art and design and its relationship with the human body and silhouette is abundantly clear through her approach to business.
Her graduate collection was recognized by Conde Nast and shortly after, The British Fashion Council whom she will showcase her latest line with. Oroy, like many entrepreneurs wears numerous hats, as a mother, designer and most recently opening her London atelier in the heart of Belgravia.
