Nicole Zisman is an artist and designer based in London. Her eponymous womenswear label introduces the notion that authenticity is the new modernity through a future-glam lens of the designer's Venezuelan Jewish heritage.
The label and its products take form through contemporary reflections of ethnicity, memory, migration and mysticism. Judeo-Latin and Hasidic spirituality and aesthetics sensually meld within audacious contemporary visual discussion that features the designer's cross-disciplinary creative approach, her unconventional use of craft techniques, and her obsession with creating high-impact, uncompromising visual narratives. The universal desire for unity, connection and high-quality human interaction in the 21st century drives the brand’s visual language and communication.
Business practices in the areas of storytelling, material and labour sustainability are informed by the designer's work in these arenas within the luxury fashion sector, within niche and/or underserved London communities, in her past and present work with Centre for Sustainable Fashion, and in her teaching and mentoring at Central Saint Martins.
Zisman completed her BA in Fashion Print from Central Saint Martins in 2019, and is a Sarabande Foundation alumnus. Her work has been featured in Dazed, LOVE Magazine, SHOWstudio, The Face, Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue, Tatler, King Kong Garçon, Schon! Magazine, Culted and ODDA. In October 2019, she presented her first solo exhibition, יהי רצון / So Let It Be Your Will, hosted by Centre for Sustainable Fashion and Waltham Forest, London Borough of Culture 2019. In February 2020, she presented as part of the Positive Fashion Exhibition at 180 Strand. Her large-scale installation בטחון — Tranquila, Mami, which combined film and fashion with real-time programmed light and sound, opened at Ein Sof Gallery, London in April 2022.
