KATHARINA DUBBICK

Berlin based Label – KATHARINA DUBBICK was founded in 2020 by Katharina Dubbick who graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2019. 

SKINSHIP is Katharina Dubbick’s inaugural knitwear collection. Inspired by the Japanese term Skinship, the collection explores intimacy, tactility and tensions that can arise through skin contact between two people.  

Silhouettes reflect organic shapes inspired by the sculpture works of Hans Arp and Henry Moore. Fine gauge knitwear is draped around the body, with cut-outs exposing parts of the skin. Craftsmanship and modernity come together to create engineered rib-structures at the intersection of the future and nostalgia. Soft pinks and smoky chalk, faint lime and coral glow against the light of skin tones. 

Tactile moments and morphing AI scenes set the tone of the collaborative film between knitwear designer Katharina Dubbick, film maker Kitty Lee Schumacher and AI artist Claudia Rafael. AI-generated abstract bodies morph into each other and evoke naive, yet unfamiliar feelings. Rhythmical plucks and distorted guitar riffsby Alex Kassian and Mane G Clark echoes in the infinite space, creating tensions between the analogue and digital. Graceful interactions sweep across the innocent landscape.
