Founded in 1856, the brand was established by Thomas Burberry who revolutionised rainwear with his invention of gabardine – a shower-resistant fabric that is used for Burberry’s signature trench coat styles. Under the creative expression of Daniel Lee, the brand epitomises timeless British luxury in its design of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, accessories and beauty. 

 

The Equestrian Knight Design – Burberry's house emblem – is imbued with symbolism, representing protection, innovation and a forward-looking spirit. The banner reads ‘Prorsum’, which translates from Latin to ‘Forward’, signalling Burberry’s direction of travel.
