1x1 Studio presents a playful knitwear collection with the aim of bringing out new textural approaches from common fashion materials. In her art and garments, designer Yi-Ling focuses on specialty fabrics, recycled yarns, and crafted techniques to continuously push the boundaries of knitted and woven designs. Each season, 1x1 Studio challenges themselves to explore more environmentally conscious avenues to fashion and design. Collaborating with different yarns research companies to produce the recycled or sustainable yarns, The core focus of her collection is “style coexisting with sustainability."
1x1 Studio has always been synonymous with fantastic technical knitwear and collections that have a romanticised interpretation of the world we live in.
Taiwan born and London based designer Yi Ling, graduated from Fashion textiles in Knitwear at London College of Fashion. After graduated, she worked at Mary Katrantzou, Julien Macdonald and Acorn Textiles at Knitwear team in UK, She later won the FDC Young designer Award, presenting her first presentation in New York in May 2017. In 2019, she won the Ones to Watch Award with Fashion Scout to showcasing her AW19 collection in London Fashion Week, Also, she has been invited to showcasing her works in Beijing on 2019 April. Designer is taking the craftsman’s spirit from her parents- a material explorer mother and an industrial designer father- she often apply principles of mechanical textures to create the 3D surface effects and materials manipulation to create extraordinary textiles, which mirrors the designer’s appeal to create technical knitwear as her visual codes.
