The philosophy of YUHAN AO is rooted in the founder’s profound memories of his mother and his recollections of Hong Kong. The image of his mother subtly shaped the inspiration muse within him. Those fragmented memories of Hong Kong, along with its flowing sense of nostalgia, serve as a medium for his creative vision in fashion. Through unique tailoring techniques and the deconstruction and reconstruction of each garment’s structure, he transforms fleeting emotions into a distinctive design language.
YUHAN AO pursued a Master’s degree in Womenswear at the London College of Fashion from 2023 to 2024, where he further refined his design philosophy. After graduating, he continued to refine his mastery of tailoring techniques under the guidance of Savile Row tailors.
His graduate collection has been recognized by fashion icons like Sara Sozzani Maino, who shared the work on Instagram with the following comment:
‘Tailoring suit and Overcoat are among the primary categories in YUHAN AO’s wardrobe, showcasing the artistry of tailoring. Through continuous deconstruction and reassembly of tailoring techniques, these impeccably tailored suits and overcoats take on a fragmented aesthetic, reminiscent of the unique romance evoked by overlapping and tearing vintage posters.’
The collection was also photographed and acknowledged by Sarah Mower, marking a milestone in the brand’s creative journey.
