The word “lem” stands for “lion” in the ancient language of Svaneti, Georgia - one
of the highest summits in Europe, which happens to be a homeland of the brand’s
founder, Phridon Niguriani. 57-year-old designer has a very unusual background - he
has built his career in the field of safety management and came to designing clothes
through making some for himself first. Since childhood, Phridon was fascinated by rock music, art, literature and sports. He was especially attracted to rock
music, which became an integral part of his life, clearly all his collections have influenced by rock music
LEM was established in 2020, and works in the slow fashion producing catwalk collections, accessories, headwear and shoes, up to now LEM has produced 13 catwalk collections.
"I believe that fashion is powerful communication means and can play active role in advocating positive and responsible approach to global problems, human right and equality, anti war manifestation and protection of our planet and nature" -  says Phridon
Storytelling through collections is essential for LEM DNA,  all LEM collections reflect certain stories – "Glory to Ukraine", "Patchwork", "Flowers positive power", "The poem(Georgian historical poem)", "Feminine Power(against women violence)",  "Sleeping Beauty(MetGala exhibition 2024 theme)", " Fashion is Art", "The Blanket". Last two collections LEM presented and shown as part of London Fashion Week official calendar in London 2025
"Unfortunately fashion industry does damage to environment and so does many other industries, we need to learn how to overcome these challenges and should learn more on this way. Sustainability is in heart of LEM DNA and working with best practice guidelines to support sustainability strategies . All our accessories and headwear are made by upcycling technics – from metal waste, from packaging materials, from old light fixtures and home decoration, also we re using old items from previous collections into new ones" - says Phridon
Loaded with modernist and floral patterns, yet shaped almost in a manner of
traditional Georgian clothing, all pieces exude positive energy. An androgynous edge,
splashes of primary colors, and details underlining ethnic identity are present in both
men’s and women’s collections. Layered shirts, tailored coats with embroidery and
silk fringe, Jacquard suits with exaggerated shoulders, complex beaded ornaments -
clothing that will compliment any wardrobe.
