Jasper Conran, OBE, is a British designer. Having trained at Parson's School of Design in New York, he produced his first womenswear collection in 1978 and was a founding member of the London Designer Collections – subsequently renamed London Fashion Week – where he continues to show today.
Jasper Conran has diversified from womenswear into menswear, fragrance, accessories, luggage, collections for the home, interiors and the performing arts. In 2008 Jasper Conran was appointed OBE for his Services to Retail.
Collaborations shaping his career include designing ceramic and glass for Wedgwood and Waterford, interior furnishings for Designers Guild, and a successful diffusion line, J by Jasper Conran, for the leading UK department store group Debenhams.
Jasper Conran's debut book Country, a photographic and written portrait of a year in the English countryside, was published in 2010.
Passionate about the performing arts, having designed costumes and sets for a total of 13 plays, ballets and operas. In 1991 Jasper Conran won a Laurence Olivier Award for Jean Anouilh's ‘The Rehearsal' and most recently has been asked to design costumes for the Royal Opera House's 2019 production of ‘Within the Golden Hour'.
In 2016 Jasper Conran opened his first hotel, L'Hôtel Marrakech, a 19th century riad in the heart of the medina. Designed with a decidedly personal stamp L'Hôtel Marrakech delivers his inimitable style. The hotel has been listed as ‘one of the best new hotels of the world' by Condé Nast Traveler USA.
