HER.O is a newly formed, luxury woman's label from the designers of Alice Lee. The label specialises in innovative knitwear and bespoke, handmade pieces designed by founders Alice Smith and Lee Farmer.
Alice studied textiles at Chelsea school of Art, then went on to specialise in knitwear on the MA Fashion course at Central St Martins under the late Louise Wilson.
Lee honed his skills through directly working in the industry, designing for independent labels and styling artists and bands.
The brand is dedicated to slow-fashion, creating thoughtful, handcrafted one of a kind pieces from recycled and repurposed fabrics.
To Smith and Farmer, sustainability means utilising the resources around them, breathing new life into dead-stock materials and antique fabrics. The two scour the world to source needlepoint tapestries and used, forgotten fabrics, which form the inspiration and material base of each, unique piece.
The designers have an artisanal approach, with a keen eye for detail and finishing, creating beautifully handcrafted pieces with a strong focus on knit and surface fabrication.
From up-cycling coffee sacks with mythological hand embroidery, to their experimentation with form and silhouette, the brand exemplifies innovative British craftsmanship.
