Prululla looks at the power of clothing to elicit involuntary memories. Whether these memories are real and autobiographical or imaginary and collective, the aim of the designer is to evoke this fascinating connection. Obtaining a BA from London College of Fashion and an MA from Goldsmiths, founder Maria Tokmakova gathered experience at brands such as Proenza Schouler and Mary Katrantzou before returning to Italy to launch Prululla in 2018. Most pieces are produced locally in the region of Umbria using carefully sourced, high-quality Italian textiles. Aesthetically influenced by constructivism and Boris Mikhailov's superimposition series, the designs are imbued with nostalgic atmosphere and dictated by shape synthesis.
