Amateur dramatics with the spirit of the regalia of the Odd Fellows.
For Fall Winter 2013, Edeline Lee found inspiration in a “wonderful collection of turn of the century Odd Fellows artefacts that I viewed in Waxahachie, Texas. The Odd Fellows were a friendly society – a fraternal organisation. The American groups produced wonderful costumes and regalia that they wore during their rituals.”
Edeline wanted to translate the spirit of this regalia into contemporary clothing.
The model wears structured and panelled pieces in Molten Metallic Tweed, Clay Angora Cashmere Wool, Moleskin and Camel Wool Coats, Stone Silk Georgette, and Cotton Crepe. A Regimental Coat had frog closures, turned and stitched by hand. One dress was covered in baroque metal coil embroidery, each coil cut and threaded piece by piece. An ornate eye on a blouse was panelled from multiple fabrics with eyelashes embroidered by hand. Soft leather gloves had contrast colored hearts panelled into the palms of the hands. Thigh high flat riding boots continued the colors and lines of the clothing to the floor. All Edeline Lee pieces are made by hand in England.
