FWSS

DESIGNER NAME: FWSS

BACKGROUND: “We are from Norway and are based in Oslo. Our team has studied at various places including Central Saint Martins, Brighton University and Esmod.”

SIGNATURES: “Classic pieces with a twist in natural materials such as silk and wool. FWSS mixes high end fashion with wearable commercial styles.”

TRADEMARK PIECE: “The shirt.”

IDEAL CLIENT: “The fashion conscious free spirited business woman, looking for signature pieces for her wardrobe.”

THE COLLECTION: “Our collections are very eclectic putting together different elements to create a look. Inspiration comes from different places, usually popular culture references such as art, music and film.  For AW13 the 1990s was a key inspiration; Looking at old ‘The Face’ magazines with girls dressing like boys in oversized sweaters and coats, not brushing their hair. We like the free spirited attitude of the 1990s girl. For shape we turned to 1960s silhouettes and looked at style icons such as Audrey Hepburn in the film How to Steal a Million. We like to work with contrasts in a collection and play with the masculine and feminine.”

CULTURAL INFLUENCES: “We always have popular culture as a reference for our collections. Music, art and films are an important source of inspiration for the label.”

PLANS FOR 2013: “Since we launched in 2012 the collection has grown bigger and each season we have introduced new product groups. For AW13 we are introducing knits and also coats to our collection.”
