DESIGNER NAME: Tomasz Donocik
BACKGROUND: Tomasz was born in Poland, grew up in Austria and moved to the UK to study. He studied at Central Saint Martins and completed his Masters at the Royal Academy of Art. After graduating he worked for internationally-renowned jeweller Stephen Webster.
SIGNATURES: “I use the motif of the star quite often but I think it's my repetition of forms that is my signature. Leather, quilting and studding with silver or precious stones is a recurring method that I use. The bracelets in particular use studding and stars in a pattern to create a dramatic look.”
TRADEMARK PIECE: “This tends to change as I design more pieces. To start with, it was my Chesterfield bangle, then the star bracelets. As the collections evolve and new people are introduced to my brand it becomes hard to pinpoint one particular piece that is a trademark. The jewellery is edgy and appeals to a diverse range of people, some people like the leather pieces and for others, it's diamonds all the way!”
THE COLLECTION: “The Resort Collection: inspired by the vibrancy of the tropics. The Resort bracelets comprise of luxurious leathers in colours such as peach, mint, Pagoda blue and lavender set against the contrasting fire of precious stones. Sparkling between the stars are rows of diamonds, sapphires, emeralds and rubies making it the first every day luxury collection.”
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? “I love my couture pieces such as the Hornbill ring or my mens croco cufflinks.”
IF YOU COULD DRESS ANYONE, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? “Our men’s silver jewellery has adorned Russell Brand; it suits his edgy style and bold character. I would love to dress Jennifer Lawrence in my fine ladies jewellery.”
