DESIGNER NAME: Natasha Rufus Isaacs and Lavinia Brennan
BACKGROUND: Natasha and Lavinia are from London, and neither have had formal fashion training. Lavinia worked in fashion PR, and Natasha worked at a charity. They set up the business after witnessing human trafficking first hand, and their vision is to employ these women and provide them with an alternative, sustainable livelihood.
SIGNATURES: “Signature billowing sleeves, our fiery red colour throughout the collection, and distinctive digital prints which are symbolic of the cause.”
TRADEMARK PIECE: “Sabitri dress.”
IDEAL CLIENT: “A woman who appreciates luxury, and has a social conscience.”
THE COLLECTION: “The inspiration for this collection is romance. We have used lace throughout the collection along with digital prints featuring hearts and flowers in rich navy, black and fiery reds. The garments featuring the hearts will be sold to raise money for the United Nations Blue Heart Campaign, which gives funds to victims of trafficking.”
CULTURAL INFLUENCES: “This season we were influenced by Pre-Raphaelite art, the styles of the long flowing gowns and the colour palette.”
PLANS FOR 2013: “To expand our current collections to international stockists.”
