SIGNATURES: “Elegance with an edge: traditional shapes with a 21st century twist.”
TRADEMARK PIECE: “Plastic bloomer – a large brightly coloured patent, plastic rose perched atop a pill box.”
IDEAL CLIENT: “My ideal client is the woman who knows her style from head to toe, but wants to top it with a bit of ‘je ne sais quoi’"
THE COLLECTION: “The SS14 collection sees further development of my investigation into florals. My main inspiration this season has been my own back garden in Glasgow, which has bloomed extraordinarily this year. I grow camellias, clematis, lilies, poppies and roses - most of which can be seen blossoming in this collection. I've also been looking at the work of the Scottish colourists, in particular Samuel Peploe, who uses broad angular vivid brush strokes, so some new shapes and more colours will be seen in this collection too.”
FAVOURITE COLLECTION TO DATE: “This one of course! But apart from that I was extremely happy with SS13 as that was the collection that got me my first London stockists.”
WHO EMBODIES THE SPIRIT OF YOUR BRAND: “The woman who likes to make a statement whilst remaining elegant. On this year's Royal Ascot TV coverage, the fashion correspondent Brix Smith-Start picked out a woman from the crowd for her style. As the camera panned up her body I was delighted to see she was wearing one of my hats. She was immaculately dressed and had an air of effortless chic about her. So whoever that woman was - she embodies the spirit of my brand!”
