'The Meeting Place' by Cristina Sabaiduc
Synopsis: This season designer Cristina Sabaiduc, used rock salts to grow crystal formations on feathers, focusing on the materials stark tactile contrasts. In collaboration with artist Jo Holland, the subjects were exposed to light & colour in the darkroom before recording onto photographic paper to create a range of delicate yet dynamic images that form the SS13 seasonal print. The meeting of these two materials has developed into an exploration of dualities. It is a visual commentary on relationships between a garment, it’s wearer, and one’s perception of the internal and external worlds. The 3D-film captures the physical, emotional, and psychological changes through a projected time-lapsed environment. The film is a commentary on the abstract dematerialization or spiritualization of the subjects as matter transforms into energy.
